Got a Sugar Addiction? 3 Easy Ideas to Kick the Habit!

I don’t believe in deprivation. In fact, my clients call me the “Substitute Queen” because most battle a serious sugar addiction and I help them eliminate it for good.  Then we gotta deal with the emotions. Until then, it’s really all about creativity and experimentation.

Below are a three easy suggestions to satisfy almost any sweet tooth free of deprivation. Each option is healthy too and increases the amount of quality nutrition you are consuming!!

1) Eyeing a COOKIE or BROWNIE?  Try a handful of NUTS & SEEDS.
Did you know your sweet tooth can be curbed by eating healthy fat? Skip the baked goods and reach for a small handful (8-10) of macadamia nuts or walnuts. These are incredibly satisfying and have awesome fat this feeds your brain and lubes your joints so you can avoid the aches and pains. Other options include sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds. Fat has a bad rap. Healthy fat in moderation is actually critical and super good for you. It’s the unhealthy fats that are causing all the problems!

2) Skip the SKITTLES and reach for MULBERRIES.
Wow wow wow.  It was an exciting day when I stumbled upon mulberries.  Talk about under promise and over deliver!  These mini pine cone looking things are so yummy I can’t say enough! To top it all off, they are super low in calories and sugar, loaded with anti-oxidants, and may even protect your heart!!  My thoughts – Why Not?  Stay tuned – these are about to become the next big “Superfood” extravaganza.

3) BUT I HAVE A CHOCOLATE ADDICTION AND DON’T WANT TO GIVE IT UP!
Don’t we all?  Seriously.  But that candy bar is habit forming and far too convenient. Swap the highly processed, chemical infested chocolate bar (even most of the “healthy” ones add soy lecithin) for a yummy chocolate beverage.

Combine
2 tbsp.  Organic, Raw Cacao Powder
a dash of Liquid Stevia, and
warm water or Almond Milk

Hold it in your hands and slurp with happiness and satisfaction.

Oh wait, you wanted something cold?  Start with a small amount of hot liquid to mix the cacao, and then add the cold liquid of your choice and a bit of ice.  This beverage will give you a healthy, solid dose of potent magnesium, anti-oxidants, fiber, and more.  Plus there is TLC as it is incredibly comforting!

So there you have it, 3 super easy breezie ideas to avoid the vending machine, baked goods, and  late night runs to 7-Eleven for a pint of Ben and Jerry’s.  Keep me posted if you try any, and for those of you with you own little tricks up your sleeve, please share!  I will feature a few next week…

When I tackle the SALT craving!!

Stay tuned!!

XOXO
