5 Weekend Meal Ideas 150 150 nykkihardin

Congrats, It’s the weekend! You made it through another busy and hectic week filled with life’s numerous responsibilities. But be on the lookout for a weekend attitude that steers you away from your true goals.

One common pattern in my cleansers and wellness warriors is weekend fitness followed by weekend food and drink debauchery.

It’s seems easy to want to “reward” yourself with a cheat meal that undermines your health journey.  Then you go into an attitude of punishment believing you can work harder in your workout to compensate.

Believe it or not, this does not work.  And my belief is that the psychological health impacts take a much greater toll on your body than the actual damage from your food and libations.

To combat this, here are 5 quick, awesome, healthy options to keep it interesting and satisfy your taste buds.

Saturday

Breakfast

2 ingredient banana pancakes

The internet has gone wild for this simple and delicious recipe. Even the world’s worst cooks can perfect it! Mashup two bananas and mix in one egg. You can add cinnamon, nutmeg, and strawberries for an extra kick! Then cook them up just like pancakes in a skillet. It’s delicious, protein and nutrient packed, and will be a hit with the whole family… or you can save them all for yourself.

Lunch

Delicious Salad Wrap

Try placing lettuce, spinach, tomato and hummus as a foundation in a Wrawp – an AWESOME substitute for a tortilla.  These are super low calorie and super delicious!  Then add other shredded veggies that you’re craving whether they be: broccoli, carrots, red onion, and of course avocado. The possibilities are endless, not to mention delectable.

Sunday

Brunch

What’s Sunday without a little brunch? Whether dining out with your friends or relaxing in your own kitchen: an acai bowl is the way to go!  Making it at home, you can find recipes here.  Try a “green” acai bowl which throws spinach, celery, and spirulina for an added benefit and to balance out the sweetness.

Dinner

And what better to end your weekend with a summer dinner with loved ones? Try a zucchini or sweet potato pasta and add grilled tomatoes, squash, onion, broccoli, and red peppers. Drizzle light olive oil and lemon over for a low-calorie sauce option, or mix in a bit of pesto.

Remember that meals are something to enjoy- don’t make it a chore to meticulously count calories or beat yourself up over food decisions. Just try to incorporate healthy decisions into your everyday life.  As always, be sure to download my FREE to tips to help you achieve this. Have a great weekend!!
