“Being Healthy is a state of BE-ING. It is about creating a lifestyle and an internal experience that is in alignment with making positive health choices. These choices drip into multiple areas of our daily experience including food, drink, think and movement.
This week I am going to share with you a handful of tips I use to stay on track with making healthy choices. In this weeks vol. 1 edition, we will focus on two of my favorite words — avoidance and cutting corners.
How does that work? Very simply my friends, it is all about how you apply these mindsets. Below are 7 suggestions:
AVOIDANCE:
1) Out of Site, Out of Mind
One of the best tricks to making positive choices is to avoid even putting yourself in a situation of temptation. What I mean is this – skip the candy, junk food, and ice cream isles at the grocery store. If you don’t see these, you don’t even conceptualize what you are “missing.” And if you don’t buy them, then they are not in your cupboard staring you in the face or haunting you as you move around your home.
2) We Don’t Break Habits, We Replace Them
Rather than feeling deprived or telling yourself you are bad for wanting something, why not swap it out with a healthy choice instead? You can download my free guide to bust any craving right here. It has all my favorite healthy swaps when I NEED something.
3) Create Space
If you live in a household of people, one of the best things you can do is to create your own shelf or cupboard space. This way you can put only your choices on the shelf and you avoid seeing junk food and temptations. It will help you train your body and your brain to only see things that are in alignment with your goals.
4) Move over Bacon
Just like you did above, we now want to create our own section or shelf in the fridge. Again, it is going to help keep your eye on the prize and not even see things that might possibly be tempting.
CUT CORNERS:
5) Let it Be PRE-EASY
Buy everything pre-washed and pre-cut, this way when its time to eat, you have skipped all the necessary prep work and can get right to cooking. Even buy pre-cooked brown rice and quinoa and keep it in the fridge or freezer to be re-heated quickly. Yeah, it may be a bit more expensive, but whats the alternative? Grabbing take out or eating junk? You are worth it.
6) Stop at Starbucks
And order your favorite herbal tea. This will save you at least a $1 or more a day instead of ordering fancy coffees and frappachinos. Oh, and then you can grab an organic, Evolution Fresh Juice from the cooler and snack for later in the day.
7) Go Green
Stop at your local juice shop, or healthy food market and get yourself a green juice!! This is the easiest, wickets way to keep your body energized and alkalized, and there is not muss or fuss at home with clean up and prep.
These are just a few little tips that can easily be integrated into your lifestyle to make it EASY to create a lifestyle around making positive health choices to stay on track!! Remember, it is all about the choices we make, and then about the thoughts we have about our choices. When we make positive choices that take us towards our goals, we feel good about ourselves. This creates momentum to keep on track with this behavior. All it takes is a few times to create a new behavior. JUST DO IT!
