10 Tips to Create Optimum Health in 2015
It’s a New Year, and prime time for you to commit to yourself and your goals. If your New Years resolutions revolve around committing to yourself, getting in shape, losing stubborn weight, and sustaining these results, the best thing you can do is create a lifestyle that will support you in reaching your goals. Below are 10 tips to assist you in this process:
1) Stop the Cause of Imbalance.
You have heard it before, but it bears repeating. If your goal is to step off the hamster wheel of yo-yo dieting and weight fluctuations, to create energy so you want to work out and live your life, the best thing you can do is commit to living without the things you KNOW are not healthy. My suggestion is to eliminate sugar, alcohol, caffeine, dairy, and all wheat products (including processes “gluten free” items). Reconnect to real, whole foods that fuel and nourish your body.
2) Clear the Congestion.
The best way to kick start any new health plan and set the body up for long term success is to cleanse using herbs, supplements, and nutrition. You must remove the congestion in the organs and blood so your system can function at a high level. This will aid in resetting your metabolism and allowing your cells to absorb the nutrients you eat. This is the goal of Nykki’s Cleanse, and exactly why I developed my cleanse products and program.
For those of you that would benefit from cleansing in a group environment, my next group cleanse starts January 16th. You can learn more and register here.
3) Give Your Body What it Wants.
Go Organic and Plant-Based. Commit to eating real, whole foods in their original form, significantly reduce animal protein (I suggest 1-2 times per week), and increase your greens BIG TIME.
4) Supplement.
The food we have access to does not have the nutrients it used to, therefore it is essential to supplement with a high quality multi-vitamin and superfoods. Do your research as not all multi-vitamins are created equal. I created Nykki’s Daily Dose for this reason. Now my clients have access to the purest, most potent multi on the market.
5) Move.
The body is designed to move. Yoga, running, zumba, determine what kind of exercise you enjoy (or at least can commit to), and do it! Create a plan of action that includes exacts – know exactly what days of the week and what time you will be working out. Schedule around it. There should be no budging.
6) Set Yourself Up For Success
Know your strengths and weaknesses, and plan accordingly. Pack your gym clothes so you don’t have to go home to change. Have the babysitter stay an extra hour, study on the stationary bike, pay to join a class so you are motivated and held accountable. If you are have a hard time avoiding junk food, don’t buy it, or create your own cupboard to keep it out of sight. Out of sight, out of mind. Look at your excuses and why you to fall off track, and then put systems into place so that doesn’t happen.
7) Stay Social.
It is important to maintain your social life and learn how to make positive choices when out with friends. Being healthy is an integrative process that does not include deprivation. This is not an either/or scenario. When you make healthy choices in the company of others, you will inspire them and they will follow your lead.
8) Enlist Support.
Get your family onboard, make exercise dates with friends, hire a personal trainer or nutritionist. Figure out where your support system comes from and lean on it. Support is a crucial ingredient to success in any goal.
I am now working with individual clients in Lifestyle Coaching, supporting them in reaching not only their nutrition goals, but their overall health and wellness goals, and evolving interpersonally. If this is something you feel would be of value, please check out more here.
9) Do The Deep Inner Work.
Deal with your emotions. If you run from or stuff destructive emotions and don’t take time to process them in a healthy way, eventually these will sneak up on you, taking a toll on your body and your relationships. Just as important as hitting the gym and making healthy food choices, you must set aside time to understand your feelings and heal wounds.
10) Make it a Lifestyle.
The more you commit to yourself and apply all of the above, the easier it all becomes. Your days and your activities are planned around taking care of yourself and leading a healthy lifestyle, and your relationships support you in your efforts. You will feel better, have more energy, and all the other aspects of your life will fall into place.
Make 2015 Your Time to Shine! Aren’t you worth it??
With wishes of love, health, peace, and prosperity!
