Build Your Healthy Summer Cooler 150 150 nykkihardin

Summer is in FULL swing.  We finally got out of May-Gray/June-Gloom cycle here in La La land and it is HOT.  You know what that means – more time outdoors which I love.

Whether you are headed to the beach, a barbecue, or having an afternoon picnic in the park, it is important to pack a healthy cooler.  While we have been brainwashed to choose sugary drinks and snacks, it is super easy to make healthy choices.  All it takes is a little mindful awareness.
All good, cuz I’ve got your back with some great suggestions so you stay in the mix and do not feel deprived.

1. Fruit-Infused Water
This one is always my favorite.  Cut up fresh strawberries, cucumber, and lemon for a delicious citrus tasting water or mint leaves for an even more stimulating experience. Consider mint leaves for digestive benefits or ginger to fight inflammation.

2. Healthy Frozen Pops
Skip the artificial sugar laden popsicles and try a homemade recipe made with green juice with a splash of fruit if need be.  Try using the 3:1 ratio of veggies to fruit for a sweet summer treat.

3. Iced Tea
Brew 4 tea bags of your favorite organic tea in an extra large mug. After 5 minutes, pop in some ice cubes, and stick in the freezer for 30 minutes for a frosty, sugar-free tea option. Mango and Orange Zest are my favorites personally, but just try this with whatever you like and notice how easy and satisfying it is.

4. Frozen Fruit (best ice cream substitute)
For a quick sweet treat to replace those candy cravings, opt for an assortment of your favorite berries, grapes, and bananas. For bananas, I highly suggest letting them get super ripe and cutting them in smaller pieces before freezing.  The riper they are, the sweeter they become.  And when the pieces are smaller it is actually more manageable. Frozen fruit will leave you feeling refreshed and energized.

5. Veggies & Hummus
What is a cooler, party or a picnic without hummus?  Choose an organic option and make sure to grab a fresh bag of carrots, a carton of cherry tomatoes, and chop up celery & cucumber.  The veggies will keep you hydrated while you soak in the vitamin D.

I know that summer days and nights can get busy and we want to have a little fun, but there are absolute alternatives to ice coffee, sodas, and sugary treats. I lay out all of those alternatives, here, in my FREE download-able guide. Make sure to give one of these healthy refreshments a try and tag @NykkiHardin in the photo! Together we can create change and support others in living a healthier lifestyle together.
Sending hugs and a ton of love!
