Last week we covered the challenging part of weight loss by diving into the psyche of the mind to understand your relationship with yourself and with food. If you missed it, check it out because it is a VITAL first step for ANYONE that is hoping to lose weight.

Today, we are going to roll up our sleeves and dive into the nitty gritty scientific components. Now, this could be an entire course and even a lifelong study, but I am going to give you the Cliff Notes because we have to empower your body to let go of the stubborn weight.

When I worked in a metabolic testing lab, coaching practitioners in how the body works at the level of the cell, I had the distinct pleasure to learn just how the metabolism functions.

Your metabolism regulates almost every aspect of your body’s functions, specifically your neurotransmitters, hormones, energy production and your body’s ability to clean itself. This manifest in your moment-to-moment experiences by determining how much energy you have, how well you are able to focus, to think, to sleep and so much more. Your metabolism affects your mood, regulates your appetite, and even impacts your sex drive!

So, when it is working and firing, you feel alive, inspired and unstoppable. During this time your body lets go of stubborn weight easily because it is absorbing and utilizing your nutrients. But when your metabolism slows down, you hold on to stubborn weight, feel lethargic and like crap in your body, you become stressed and emotional, usually struggle with insomnia… things go downhill.

How does this happen?

It all starts with the body’s ability to clean itself – to detoxify itself of all the toxins and chemicals and pollutants that are entering the system. These add up, and then the body is no longer able to deal with the toxic load.

Then things start to go downhill…
