What are you willing to let go of?

It never ceases to amaze me how often people want change in their life, yet they are not willing to let go of the things that stand in the way.

I have client, let’s call him Dave, who was dealing with some pretty serious health challenges. This was causing physical discomfort like lack of energy, restless sleep, brain fog, chronic inflammation and discomfort.  

It was affecting his performance at work.  

And he was also experiencing severe psychological pain because he did not know what was wrong with him.  He had a plethora of tests done and saw a variety of medical experts in their field, yet everything came back normal and no one ever had an answers.

I shared the details of my 21 Cleanse and some of the different coaching options that are available.

​​​​​​​He knew it was what he needed, yet when he found out that doing my detox meant not having his normal favorite things, like ice cream and cheeseburgers and french fries…

Immediately the resistance came up. 

I told him it was only for 3 weeks, and that he could do anything for only 3 weeks.  Then he could figure out his next step. 

After a lot of hemming and hawing, he complied and we got him his kit.

He received his detox, and then proceeded to drag his feet on starting. He didn’t want to stop eating the junk food and make the changes necessary… 

I coached him thru the resistance and finally he started.

And in just a few days, not only did his energy and clarity go thru the roof, but the alarming health scares also disappeared!  

Things only continued to go thru the roof for him – weight fell off, blood pressure dropped, greater clarity arrived, his happiness reached new heights…

And his results were off the charts.  He was now experiencing a completely new reality.

It was what he had been wanting for a really long time, yet he had been so focused on and attached to what he would be “giving up,” that he didn’t have an energy directed towards everything he would gain.

Here’s the deal – If you want success in an area you are no getting it, you MUST be willing to do things differently. This requires a willingness to let go of the choices, the behaviors, and the circumstances of your life that are not taking you there.

Sure these things served you up to a point… 

They got you to where you are now so you could become razor clear about what you DO want. But if you are not willing to make the necessary changes to create the space for the success to arrive, then you will only keep banging your head against the wall. 

You will continue to prolong pain and suffering…

I see this ALL the time in my detox company —  you want results – to actually FEEL good in your body, to think clearly and make good choices, to feel positive and happy and motivated about your life, to actually stop neglecting your nutrition and your health and start making yourself a priority… 

Yet you have so much resistance…

You don’t want to give up your coffee even though you know it’s super acidic and damages your gut — did I mention it is also a hormone blocker and loaded with chemicals that are a bi-product of the roasting process.

The thought of not having your wine at night is ridiculous, and even though you know it disrupts your sleep, puts sugar and yeast in your body, harms your liver, and and and…

To not drink it is out of the question.  

It doesn’t take you where you want to go – yet you are unwilling to make different choices.

Look, I’m not unrealistic about this stuff…  At the end of the day, you want to live your life.

The question is – what is the QUALITY of the life you are living?

And will it be improved if you start to make some different choices? 

So what are you actually sacrificing?

That’s why I encourage people to do my 21 Day Detox – its like a fast pass to turn your health situation around so you not only feel better, you ARE better.

Then after you do it – you can go back to what you want to do.  But at least make sure you make the effort – for a short period of time – to do the things you know you should be doing.

And to clean up and repair the damage that was done from what you have been doing.

Now let’s talk about letting go of the things in your life you KNOW are NOT what you want…

Sometimes it is painful…

But usually that pain is more about fear that you will miss out on something or that you will not get what you want.

I see this often with my coaching clients.  They want something different in their life…  a loving relationship, a new job, a new home… 

Yet they aren’t doing anything different or making the necessary changes to actually create the results they want. 

If you want a romantic relationship, that’s not going happen if you don’t put yourself in environments where you can actually meet someone. 

If you want a new job, then somewhere in that process it will require you to put forth the necessary energy to bring that to life. Which also means you will need to let go of the one you have and be willing to make adjustments to your current schedule and lifestyle. 

You’ve got to be realistic, and you’ve got to overcome the resistance to letting go of the habits, the choices, the thoughts, the things that are in direct conflict with what you want!  

You’ve got to keep you focus on where you are going and what you are creating, and off of what you are letting go of.   

Most likely the pain of getting by or “good enough” will add up and often can become too much, taking you down hard…

Until you start to do things different.

And this is when life starts to shift, things start to look up, and your self-esteem and your happiness sky rocket.

And suddenly you have serious momentum and you are excited about your life again. 

YOU ONLY HAVE ONE LIFE SO STOP WASTING IT.
